We do like to stay focused on our core business, but regularly supplying religious books to mosques, we were often asked to provide suitable tables for madrasa students. Their 'study benches' had chipped wood and rust, with obvious health and safety issues, and hazards with lifting, stacking and storage. They were not aesthetically pleasing, and did not lend themselves to individual study. Cost-effective alternatives could not be found.
After enquiring with our Indic suppliers and consultations with our Religious Sector customer base, Books Asia took the step to design and trial 'Patla' desks in the UK, and subsequently manufactured the desks in Hong Kong.
Made for a special book
Our Patla Desks are designed specifically for use in Madrasas, Mosques and Muslim Schools where religious books are typically studied by large numbers of students, sitting in rows on a carpeted floor. The desks are equally suited to home use too.
Made of ABS plastic and measuring 15"(w) x 22"(l) x 3"(h) or 10"(h ext), they can sustain long term use with very little wear. The legs can be folded, and the desks safely stacked, even by younger students, for easy storage.
The artwork is designed to match the typical interior decor of a mosque. The surface is scratch resistant and easy to keep clean.
